A dance music legend takes the helm. There's plenty of mythology surrounding Andrew Weatherall—Boys Own, Shoom, Primal Scream, the beard and so on. But in a career that's lasted over 30 years, and has presumably included every conceivable high and low, Weatherall has always been about cutting out the bullshit, building a reputation that's beyond reproach. I really like this mix! Smooth transition through a lot of genres, plus a hard right-turn at around the 45 minute mark. Initially that took me aback, but in the end everything holds together nicely. I know that Weatherall is one of the all-time greats, but I generally think of the Two Lone Swordsmen stuff as nice but backgroundy. This is a good mix for making me rethink that assumption.

Don't forget The Sabres of Paradise, Going To Maine - Smokebelch II, Wilmot (ahhh... the skiddybengbeng lunacy...)

He's also the only producer that made Mick Hucknall worth listening to. Only once though.

The swamp-rocky A Pox On The Pioneers album is an interesting artefact, too.
