‘Hotwives of Orlando’ vs. ‘Real Housewives’: Can you tell these quotes apart?
Hulu’s new scripted comedy “Hotwives of Orlando” is technically a parody of Bravo’s “Real Housewives” series. As many have noted, trying to satirize the absurd franchise is a difficult task, because the actual shows — from New York to Orange County — are already so much like parodies of themselves.

Luckily, the “Hotwives of Orlando” creators know that. So instead of skewering the “Housewives” concept, this show goes a much more clever route: Being so completely over-the-top ridiculous, yet pulling back just enough, that it almost seems like it could be a companion show. Really, it’s almost impossible to tell the two apart.
The cast: Tawny St. John (Casey Wilson), Shauna Maducci (Danielle Schneider), Veronica Von Vandervon (Andrea Savage), Crystal Simmons (Angela Kinsey), Amanda Simmons (Kristen Schall), and Phe Phe Reed (Tymberlee Hill).

I've been wondering if I can really appreciate this show if I've never seen any Real Housewives.

#PhePhe

I'm loving it. I have watched Real Housewives (mostly the Beverly Hills and Atlanta ones.) and it's spot on!

I haven't seen any Real Housewives, and I watched the first two eps of this last night. It was funny and enjoyable, although I think a few of the jokes would have been funnier if I'd watched more Real Housewives (e.g. "Calm Down" being the WORST POSSIBLE THING you can say to anyone).

This reminds me a lot of the two Queen of Jordan eps from 30 Rock (which are way better than this, but then those episodes are AMAZING so I'm not running down Hotwives by saying that). The thing is, Queen of Jordan was two episodes -- I'm not sure if there's a sustainable series in that material or not.

Beyond that, Phe Phe is amazing.
