Arrested Development: Marta Complex   Rewatch
July 25, 2014 6:58 AM - Season 1, Episode 12 - Subscribe

Michael delivers a speech about love that makes Marta realize she has feelings for him. George-Michael realizes that Maeby might not be his cousin.

Much to love in this episode as Michael and Gob seek out the hermano Marta is in love with, George-Michael gets new hope for Maeby Tonight, Buster tries to prove he is a man by leaving his mother, George dispenses his Caged Wisdom, Lindsay could've been sleeping with Frightened Inmate #2, and Lucille spends her first night alone in her apartment.

"Baby, you got a stew going" is the origin of so many stupid phrases I've attempted to shoehorn into telephone conversations, such as "take it home, throw it in a pot with eye of newt and toe of frog, baby, you got a witches brew going" or, say, "get yourself a couple electric pianos, a legendary trumpeter, baby you got a bitches brew going." Nobody is ever as amused as I am.

Let me see if I can get something going here:
Get yourself an English office worker, some great songs, baby, you've got My Aim is True going.
Get yourself some 80s metal, a few misplaced umlauts, baby, you've got a Mötley Crüe going.
Heh.

I also enjoyed seeing Buster channeling Tobias: "No, mother! I can blow myself!"

Get yourself a neckbeard, coreutils and a compiler, baby, you got a GNU going.

You get yourself a big nose, coupla katanas, baby, you got a Groo going.

OK, that was bad but, hey, I said they were stupid!

Get yourself some leather, a few tools and a cobbler elf, baby, you've got a shoe going.

Do you ever actually manage to work these into a conversation organically?

Certainly not but I only ever speak to one person, my brother, so he forgives me.
