Angel: Somnambulist Rewatch

A figure from Angel's past comes back to haunt him. No, not that one. No, not that one either. This one is a one-off named Penn, notable primarily for being Jeremy Renner (who was still working as a makeup artist to make ends meet between roles). Oh, and did we mention that Kate learns that Angel's a vampire?
The first episode of the Wesley era has Alexis Denisof replacing Glenn Quinn in the opening credits.

The last Angel re-watch I've done (and I think I've watched the whole series three times), must have been before The Hurt Locker came out because, huh. Jeremy Renner. What do ya' know?

This is essentially the episode of “Angel” from Buffy’s first season, except the audience knows he’s a vampire. Different blonde to react to the news, but unlike Buffy, who is equipped to deal with the supernatural, Kate never really accepts Angel and their relationship basically doesn’t repair until “Epiphany.” She does surprisingly well at research and vampire fighting her first day out, though. I sometimes think vampires must be made out of butter, as the normal human shoves a wooden board all the way through Angel’s body and into Penn’s heart with one move. Seriously, police academy training must be astonishing.
