Angel helps protect an actress from a stalker, but there's something more at play...

The "stalker" is a series of setups by the actress's manager to keep her name in the papers. Angel handles them easily enough, but she realizes he is a vampire and drugs him to make him turn her. The drug makes him happy... perfectly happy.

This one kind of works for me, but I wonder why they never explore the idea of drugs being able to induce "perfect happiness" again. I feel that W&H would be all over that. I guess it's thematically appropriate that an actress gives him a drug that only simulates bliss. The other question is, does that mean Angel can be turned briefly by the power of suggestion/placebo?

This sets up Cordelia's "go figure. I hook up with the only person in history who ever came to LA to get older" in the season finale.

Wes gets to show off some nice moves (and think ET means Emma Thompson), and we get to see a truly painful acting scene with Cordelia. I have to admit, having gone to theatre school, that first scene with the fakeout about being trapped made me laugh a lot. The whole Oliver Lowell "He thought I had a quality" thing is again clearly making fun of Boreanaz being discovered walking his dog on the street.

Wes should probably get worker's comp for the number of times Angel knocks him out for some reason or another. The Watcher's Fund for Brain-Damaged Brits.
