True Blood: Maybe the Last Time
August 4, 2014 11:59 AM - Season 7, Episode 7 - Subscribe
Numi/Newme/Sarah Newlin is haunted by her past (reminding me a bit of The First from Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as the final episode of House.)
Lafayette and Lettie Mae briefly dig holes. Violet's vengeance plot moves forward after a bit of comedy. (Question: if she has this fantastical love manse, why has she not shared it with Jason?) Andy in the wake of his daughter's disappearance breaks down. Sam ponders leaving Bon temps. Arlene slow dances with a vampire. Hoyt shows up with a girlfriend that is 1 not as ugly as sin as Maxine said and 2 Jason wants to bone. (Again?)And Bill and Sookie go right back to s1 only this time with black veins. Oy.

"I used to fuck my brother, too. A lot. [WINK!]" Violet is officially fully redeemed to me.

Sam doesn't want to leave because Bon Temps is the only place where there are so many supes he feels almost normal. I mean really. It's like Sunnydale on a full moon. Nicole wants a "normal life." He can't give her that. The best thing Sam had going was Luna and "anger management." I was pissed at Sam for hooking up with Nicole. Now I'm really pissed. I miss mercurial aloof mysterious Sam.

I wonder if Eric is going to throw away the cure just to kill Sarah Noomi. He really gets obsessed with revenge.

He does but remember Godric told him death is peace, which is why he didn't kill Russel, while keeping her live just manufacture antidote could be torture...Also Sookie seems to be a trump card here. If he can cure her with Sarah's blood, I'm willing to bet he'll restrain himself.

Worst.Love Scene.Evah. Eew. Just eew. Missionary again? Both of their heads at 9 o'clock, right in front of the fireplace... Just Like Before. I felt like I was supposed to be all "awww" but my reaction was "ugh." Where the hell did all of that amazing Paquin/Moyer chemistry from every prior season go?? (Don't say their IRL marriage and babies did that. Hmm...) And we all saw that one from like a mile away, and it was official once we saw Sookie go running through the cemetery towards Casa Bill wearing white, of course. No. Just no.
Arlene's story was the best thing about this episode. Her speech to Sam was just straight up solid happiness advice. Preach on! I just love Carrie Preston the most; every scene with her is TV gold. The show is coming full circle - she's reminding me of the way early Sookie/Bill used to circle each other at Merlotte's.
Um, why were Lettie Mae and Lafayette digging in each and every place in the yard that was NOT that spot in near the middle where they saw Dream Tara actually digging? The kid in the house watching them in her yard was cute - neat way to unfold that scene.
> If Sam really can't choose between his fiancée and a shitty podunk town, that's just pathetic. He doesn't even have a business there anymore and the townsfolk hate and fear him because they now know he's a shifter. A-MEN!!! Perfectly said! Poor Nicole.
Violet offering the kids her sex toys was super uncomfortable - oddly, I found that whole "reveal" scene psychologically scarier than anything I've seen the show do in awhile. Well done, show.
Eric killing Amber seemed consistent with his newfound desperate need to beat time. He's more human than ever now.
Numi's story is starting to remind me of Eric's own backstory. Once upon a time, an old vampire (Russell Edgington) killed his whole Viking family, then Godric found him on the battlefield while he was revenge-seeking and rescued him from the true death. Now another old vampire (Eric) has just killed Numi's whole family - so I predict a similar sort of transformation for Numi; whether that's some sort of awful "eternal prisoner of the Yakuza/Corporation" status or something happier like being made a vampire, or Eric actually deciding he wants Numi on his team (sounds crazy but she has demonstrated bravery and ruthlessness in an odd way, and those are qualities he loves in Pam).... I dunno, but I'm excited to see where this goes.
I didn't believe it for a moment that Niall (which they're pronouncing like "Nile" not "Neal"? Guess I completely missed that the last time my beloved Rutger Hauer was on the show) could not save Bill. (Again: magical fairy family heirlooms solve these kinds of problems all the time.) It's that he didn't want to, because Bill is not in Sookie's best interest. True dat, Niall. I wonder if Niall was showing Sookie the birth of Bill's first child to steer her away from the vamps. As if to say: Sookie, Bill already lived a full human life complete with kids, and then some - let him go already and worry about yourself. The Dr. leaving at the mere mention of Niall's name was pretty funny. Any other random characters from seasons past this show is going to trot out for one last hurrah?

Speaking of that run towards Bill's house. Does Sookie seem to run and walk oddly at times? Like she's trying to contort her body in some weird shape while doing these things? Her elbows seen weirdly placed as she's running.
I noticed it also in the scene at the oak tree with her fairy grandfather. They're walking to the house together and then her GF veers off and she follows. Anyone else notice that?

I liked it better when Eric and Pam were on their own. I am curious to see what Eric does (or does not do) when he finds Sarah.
Here's the list of people I still give a shit about, and I want them to have a happy ending:
Eric
Pam
Jessica
Arlene
Adilyn (they don't spend much time on her, but she's sweet and innocent)
Hoyt (I have loved him since season 1)
These could disappear from the show with no explanation at all and I wouldn't care:
Andy & Holly
Sam (man, I used to love him but they've done nothing with him this season)
Jason
Lafayette
James 2.0 (why wasn't he helping his new boyfriend dig holes?)
I'm so sick of these characters that I actively wish them harm:
Bill
Sookie
Lettie Mae
Horrible things should happen:
Violet
Sarah

I made a prediction that by the last episodes we're gonna see more narrative gimmicks, lots of flashbacks, flash fowards "...and then two years later" and montages. So we'll see.
Bill's awful flashbacks are going to come to a point, and that point is Sookie using her fairy ball to ease his suffering (MEET THE TRUE DEEEEAAAAATTTTH) when it turns out, oh hey the fairy magic was PURE LOVE and it CURED HIM ..of being a VAMPIRE and now she's no longer succulent steak to vampires having lost her fairy blood.
That or Ghost!Tara rides the world of vampires or something, or it goes off into it's own dustbin of "Subplots we kinda kicked around until we wrapped them up in one quick scene highlighting how little we cared for them.)

I get the impression she's kind of weird and petty and vengeful. Plus at some point she could probably turn him if she wanted I guess, not really sure how that works.
These could disappear from the show with no explanation at all and I wouldn't care:
Andy & Holly
OK Holly, sure, I never really liked her but Andy is kinda good, isn't he?
James 2.0 (why wasn't he helping his new boyfriend dig holes?)
it was daytime!
Agreed on Bill. That super-hep-V is not fast enough! Also agreed on the happy endings list, except maybe Jessica who I used to like but am getting real tired of. She has been nothing but a wreck all season and they need to put some personality back in her character. Lafayette too is sorta treading water these days. Used to like him but they have managed to make him boring. Quite an accomplishment considering this guy is a magical sassy medium who deals and abuses drugs and tops sexy closeted vampires in parked cars.
Guess I completely missed that the last time my beloved Rutger Hauer was on the show
OMG that's Rutger Hauer?

Andy breaking down at the lake house made me sad. I still like Andy.
But enough about him, let's talk about Hoyt. HOYT'S BACK Y'ALL! And he remembers nothing. I hope Jessica eats his new girlfriend but she probably won't be able to stop crying long enough to get even that done.
I guess my "super fairy blood" theory wasn't really right? And I can't believe I'm saying this but... Sookie has a point. What's the point of being fairy royalty if you can't do anything except have sad sex with Pointless Flashback Bill.
Not enough Eric and Pam. NEVER enough Eric and Pam.

I completely agree with this! Honestly, for all the hype, fairies seem damn fragile and weak. Remember when the fairy clan behind (near?) the cemetery were all easily wiped out? So I was really happy to hear the show address this, but then nothing. Just, "yeah, you're right Sookie, that fairy royalty thing is all so much talk."

and then it really quickly scaled down to finish like it started to a small town with an Other and characters and on one hand, yeah I guess that works to see them off but on the other hand...what the hell was all that big stuff about then?

I came here to bow in acknowledgement to those I naysayed who thought it was Sookie's fairy blood that resulted in the extra lethal Hep-V. Your magic-logic skills are superior! I mean, Ludwig peaced out too quickly... rather disappointing, so maybe we'll never know.
Kind of a disappointing episode. Disappointed in Eric for not drinking Amber's blood. (I mean, what have you got to lose at that point?) Not impressed with Sookie's elbows-back dash through the graveyard to recreate season 1. I felt what they were going for, I really did, I really tried. It just... felt bad. I guess that's what we're supposed to be feeling. you CAN'T go back.
(also I think this is just an extra campy fantasy run. I recall Mia Sara in Legend.)

Good point, Sayuri. That's probably why the writers wrote in having her killed. Of course, the cure should be able to passed along. Why not if Hep-V can be passed along? But now I'm mad at Eric and Pam for being stupid and not at least thinking of that. I can't not like Eric and Pam. I'd lose the will to continue watching. How many eps left?

Fairies can be made vampire ,which it's kind of amazing no one thought of this in all this time only Warlow came up with the idea of infecting a fellow fairy. You'd think maybe some one like Russel would have enough vision to replicate what happened with Warlow. Sadly most vampires don't have that self control save Eric and Bill.
Thus...I suppose Bill and Sookie could have hybrid offspring, but considering he's infected....ewwww I hope not.

To be fair, they were wiped out by Warlow, who had all the powers of an ancient vampire and an elder faerie. Being Fae also allowed him to enter their secret faerie night club and catch them by surprise. They didn't stand a chance.
I think Warlow was a fairy who was turned into a vampire rather than the product of a union between the two.
Yeah, he was a faerie who was turned by Lilith. I had the impression that only Lilith had the self-control necessary to turn a full-blooded faerie, but any vampire should be able to turn a halfling like Sookeh.

I so hope that Jason steals Hoyt's new girl so we can have the Hoyt and Jessica show back...(the only thing better than the Hoyt and Jessica show is the Pam 'n' Eric show, I would watch a full hour of just Pam 'n' Eric. They could talk about movies. Or sandwiches. Or anything). Also Hoyt! Is back!
I could do without the Bill flashbacks except he has good hair in them.

Bill and Sookie boning was very much the opposite of sexy. Glad that'll be the last time. I was amused that even Sookie's fairy grandpa thought they were a shitty couple.
If Sam really can't choose between his fiancée and a shitty podunk town, that's just pathetic. He doesn't even have a business there anymore and the townsfolk hate and fear him because they now know he's a shifter.
Why was Numi hallucinating? I don't see that she took any drugs so, why, why??! The Texan-Yakuza guy is awesome. Good on him for not leaving Eric and Pam behind.
The writers seem to have slyly promised a happy ending. I wonder at their definition of that term.
