Grey's Anatomy: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

Maggie leaves her dinner party and races to the hospital, so April takes over the cooking duties in an attempt to avoid Jackson. Meanwhile, Arizona is extremely anxious about meeting Callie's new girlfriend.

This episode felt like the opening scenes to a horror movie! Really good episode but the tension!

Ok, I have to say - does Penny not do her research? If she was accepted as a resident at a teaching hospital that is supposed to be one of the best surgical programs in the country (or at least top 12), wouldn't you know who the attendings are? If she knew Derek by name when Meredith came to identify him - wouldn't she put two and two together that his wife, Dr. Grey is the same Dr. Grey who worked at Seattle Grace Mercy Death Sloan Memorial Hospital? Unless Penny is completely non-ambitious and didn't think to see who she would be learning from in his program, I can't believe that she wouldn't know Meredith worked there - or that she was the Chief of General. Or even if we excuse it that she didn't know Mer worked there - wouldn't you be a bit squicked out about working at the hospital of a famous surgeon you let die? I am the most annoyed at Penny in this episode.

Everyone else gets a complete pass, even drunk Arizona being in love with Calli's new girlfriend.

This was like a master class in tension. Amazing episode. I could not stop watching.

I think she said at one point "It's a big hospital, I didn't think we'd run into each other", which didn't seem plausible, but I guess we'll give the writers a pass on that one since it was a pretty great setup to the episode.

I was all back on board the Grey's train, but this episode (and the one that follows) caused acute eye-rolling for me. (More than usual!) How would it not be possible for everyone to know who everyone is? Especially Penny. And Callie! Penny is played by a lovely and charismatic actress, which is good, because her role makes no sense and her character is impossibly dumb.

I'm angry at Penny, sure, but I'm also angry at Amelia. Why does she hate Meredith so much?
