The Shannara Chronicles: Reaper
January 28, 2016 6:55 PM - Season 1, Episode 5 - Subscribe
The Dagda Mor sends the Reaper after Amberle and Wil as they are taken prisoner, once again, by Cephelo. Allanon trains Bandon. Ander is forced to make a difficult decision.
Sortof the same plot as World Fly Fishing, catch - release, catch - release, repeat.

I think with this episode I am done watching this show. I've stopped caring who any of the characters are or what is happening to them.

I read like at least 5 of the books when I was a young man, and all I really remember about them is that Allanon rocks. So I hope they manage to lose all these extraneous young adults soon so we can get back to what makes Shannara great: Allanon (and by extension, Manu Bennett).

The other thing I remember from Elfstones was that The Reaper (book spoilers) was a cool enemy (to 12-year-old me, anyway.) The behemoth on the show, not so much.

Bu why didn't Cephelo just run away and leave Wil hanging? It doesn't make sense!

Yeah, I am out too.
It barely has any of the joy of the books (This is me ready to punch whoever approved the gnomes) and I just don't care.

I know we aren't keeping threads up with this show, but I'm finding that every time they mention "elfstones" that if you replace that in your head with the word "cellphone" the show is a tiny bit more funny.

Damn you, now that I know future episodes involve D&D dice (Elfstone blue ones) and a high school gym...
Yup. Gonna be 'The Cellphone of Shannara' all the way now.

God help me, I'm enjoying this show for what it is: a bit of cheesy escapist fun. Although in this episode it got grim with the threat of rape.
A few good action sequences (as always) and epic landscape shots - thank you very much you delivered MTV.
The actor who plays Allanon (Manu Bennett) sounds a bit like Liam Neeson.
"Magic always has a price, Wil."
