I'd totally watch a Shosh in Japan spin off. Maybe because I still have a huge Lost in Translation hole in my heart.
Adam and Jessa make the best couple on the screen. Hannah and Fran are both horrible people.

Best scene on the episode was on the boudoir photo-shoot, thanks to Elijah
-You look like you had a spinal cord injury, put some life in those limbs
-Not the Katie Holmes... (this was perfect) Let me put this in a way you'd understand... like you know a cake is coming later. There she is!

Also, Girls providing stuff for your nightmares.

I would have liked a complete Shosh in Japan episode, though I liked the other storylines fine.

I do kind of hate the "blow off my perfectly nice and supportive boyfriend because I'm busy being myself" storyline because guys like that seem to come around approximately never and it's worth working on things. On the other hand, Shosh is so young and the decision to stay makes sense...but she could have told him. He looked so sad with his flowers and little sign.

In a way, yes, but on the other, he was the one who said to make a clean break from her life - the one she loved - in Japan.

I thought he was just being supportive because she got fired.

I laughed at the unrealistically enormous apartment Shosh had. Cool shower-capsule-pod, though.

He was being supportive, but also in a self-admittedly selfish way. He could also have told her to hang around as long as possible to see if she could find a new opening, but went in a bit too agressive and she ended up doing what he told her... except only the goodbyes suck bit.

Not that unrealistic. It's around $3000/month and she seems to be alone, so, no surprise the Japanese branch is going through difficulties.

One thing I forgot: Echhhuadoor.

Hah, still 36K/year in rent. I guess we've figured out why the Japanese branch is cutting US workers.

I might have been watching too many "conspiracy!" type shows (just binged The Americans) but I got it into my head that Shosh's bf pulled some strings to get her fired somehow so she would come home. That was why Aidy Bryant seemed just as blindsided as Shosh was. I never got good vibes from that guy and she deserves better than First Trophy Wife. Even though she's still surrounded by assholes who don't get or appreciate her, her new bf seems really great.

I love Fran but I want him off the show if only to be free of Hannah. I like Hannah for who she is but somebody nicer than Hannah deserves Fran.

the opening sequence leading to the Japanese title card was perfect. Over at the AV Club review, they noted that the show had a japanese title card once before, and it was different this time: the title this episode was "Girl" singular, presumably because Sosh is alone out there.
