Hey I haven't been posting these for a bit (my wife and I fell behind), so I figure now is as good a time as any to discuss anything that's happened in the last few episodes.

Sorry but that seems like a derail from how Gaston is THE FUCKING WORST? OH MY GOD I JUST COULD NOT WITH HIM. I'm amazed my eyes didn't roll out of their sockets. OF COURSE Her Ladyship the Countess of Stockholm Syndrome was engaged to that asshole. He almost literally said "you're not like other girls" which is what douchebag PUAs tell you when they don't want you to believe other women's warnings about what a dick they are. "I am a great hunter but oh boo hoo my heart is so lonely", "I guess I finally met a woman of substance"...fuck off with that shit. Poor Belle, that young woman obviously has some issues but she definitely does not deserve the one-two punch of Rumpelstiltskin the Perpetual Dark One Who Just Lies About It All the Time and Gaston, Prince of the Smarmy Douchebags. Get that girl some therapy!

Incidentally I think her father's an ass and I blame him for a lot of this. Stop undermining your daughter's autonomy and self-respect! What did you think was going to happen? What a tool. I'm not sure Belle has ever had a relationship -- romantic, filial, platonic, whatever -- with a decent man.

Her Ladyship the Countess of Stockholm Syndrome

As a personal aside, I love your constantly changing titles for her. I believe "Stockholm Syndrome Barbie" was the first.

Anyway, I feel like this was a decent, but not fantastic episode, that's part of the show returning to the relationships it does best. Belle and Rumple's stupid terrible for everyone relationship is one of the hearts of the show and I for one am glad to see Belle back to making the kind of dumb choices that have driven the narrative thus far. Gaston was awful, but in a way I kind of liked because OF COURSE Belle half fell for that nonsense. I didn't love a return to the Ogre Wars plots because I feel like they never had a good handle on the time line or details there (I know, I know, they don't have that handle for anything, but it's worse for the Ogre Wars).

I found the stuff with Emma and company kind of pointless and confusing and around 30 minutes I thought someone should have put out an APB for Josh Dallas, BUT

RUBY IS BACK YAY RUBY

Oh yeah, super psyched for Ruby being back and I do feel like the show is getting back to some of its core relationships and re-developing other relationships (Regina and Zelina) in a way that is reminding me of why I watch this thing at all.

Also I see your point about how one core aspect of everything is Belle's dopey relationship choices and deep psychological damage masquerading as charming naivete and much as it makes my eyes roll until they hurt I think it is important to the show (but God I just wanted to smack Gaston so much).

I DID like when Belle pulled out the dagger! That was very satisfying!

Yeah I feel like the deal with Belle is she's dopey 99% of the time so then occasionally she'll pull out Rumple's dagger and it's crazy and awesome.
