My experience with libertarians has always been "Sure, sure, sure... oh..." That was my experience in college ("I think Hurricane Katrina victims shouldn't get government help, because they chose to live in a flood zone") and with this segment ("The government should stay out of global warming!")

Otherwise, I'm really glad to have this show. I don't know at what point I will need some emotional distance from the Orlando footage, space for grief, but Sam Bee's particular brand of pissed-off is good to have today.

Watching Bee's take on the Orlando shooting not long after Trevor Noah's did not serve Noah well at all. Noah just does not seem engaged, ever, while Bee is funny and sharp and truly angry about all the right things. Can we start a petition to have Bee and Noah swap jobs, so Bee can be on The Daily Show every night and Noah can be on TBS once a week?

I'm not sure why people are asking for this from either Bee or Oliver. You may want to refer to some settled law on the subject of Quality v. Quantity.

When John Oliver substitute-hosted for Jon Stewart for a couple of months, he showed he was absolutely capable of doing a nightly show. I can't say that Bee would still be as great if she was doing this every night, but I can say with some confidence she'd be better at it than Noah's been. Noah is just kind of there, and nobody is going to say that about Bee.

I just love Samantha Bee. She can be furious and funny at the same time and never fall too far on one side or the other. She's truly the best host of a show like this that's out there.

You have to be careful around Angry Bees!

Seriously. I'm glad (for a highly-alloyed sense of glad) to have all these Daily Show descendants addressing the same events in different ways, since without Full Frontal I wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn what absolutely reprehensible hand Rick Scott had played in Orlando's tragedy (and I wouldn't have had the impetus to yell "FUUUUUUCK YOOUUUUUU" at my TV).

I was happy to see Rick Scott's constant bullshit highlighted. I've been following his deplorable conduct at Wonkette.com, finding it unfathomnable that people elected him, which makes me rather nervous regarding the upcoming Presidential election.

I heard Sam Bee on Fresh Air a few weeks ago, and she'd inked the deal with TBS before Jon left TDS. But I think the money would have to be awfully good to choose the pace of a 4-night-a-week show over a 1-night-a-week show. I think John Oliver has made that point as well (and he doesn't have the passel of kids Bee does!).

Bee signed with TBS for the pretty good show she wrote with (and starring) Jason Jones, very likely way before Stewart called it a day. Her own show, maybe something TBS suggested on her own terms knowing she had the experience to pull it off in front and behind the cameras.

She wouldn't have accepted the Daily Show gig; in fact, it feels Noah was the only person willing to accept it, judging by the number of people who put themselves out of contention in the process.
One thing is presenting one of the network late night shows, the other is basic cable with the same schedule, but a fraction of the pay.

And as for Noah, one of his selling points is how he's a foreigner looking at the fucked-updesness that is American society and politics, even more than Oliver. A lot of stuff he can find parallels (like the Orange Guy as an African dictator), but mass shootings outside warzones is an American phenomenon. There's violent crime in many places, including Noah's native South Africa, but I doubt there's anything like the bi-monthly shooting sprees. And that is something that is hard to process other than "what the fuck is wrong with you people". I wouldn't do any better because really, what the fuck is wrong with you people. I'd much rather he keeps honest and pointing out that shit isn't normal (as opposed to, say, political corruption which is common as sand) than to come up with some on screen outrage he'd have to fake like on Fox News when there's a "war" on something white males over 50 like.
