One of the things that made this show work for me is that I went into it having read (somewhere) that the mob-related parts of the show are the weakest link, so I wasn't expecting too much. In this pilot episode, especially, the "Tooth Fairy" comes of as a very watered-down Kingpin from Daredevil. I do enjoy some aspects of the character – the way he mostly appears seated facing backwards in a van tugs on my Justified memories.

I am almost certainly more excited than is warranted to see where things go over the course of the season.

(I'm getting into posting these late. I'll try to catch up on posting the next two episodes that have already aired before the next new episode.)

Ross is so sad. But really, I liked this quite a bit even if Sturgess' accent is missing. I'm also excited to see where it goes. Is the Bronx experiencing this gentrification IRL?
