Tyrant: Spring
July 11, 2016 11:54 AM - Season 3, Episode 1 - Subscribe
Barry steps forward as interim president and sets the stage for democratic elections. Daliyah takes a leading role in the nation. An American General who shares history with Leila arrives.
FX's promotional efforts appear to consist primarily of bus ads at this point, but Tyrant actually returned for a third season. Don't remember where we left off? Jamal dropped off Barry in the desert, where he became the leader of the resistance to the ISIS-like Caliphate. The Al-Fayeed family eventually comes together to win the battle against the Caliphate, and Jamal promptly reneges on his deal to step down but is in turn shot by the daughter-in-law he raped on her wedding night.
This new season kicks off with Jamal in the hospital and Barry assuming the title of president, building a coalition government, and promising to teach them how to say goodbye.

I think that this episode did a good job of setting the stage for this season. I assume Jamal will be back up on his feet again soon, because he's easily one of the most compelling characters.
