A community made up only of women (and I've already seen references to Amazons in other forums). When I saw that, I had to wonder if they'd run into the Saviors at some point - which would explain why all the men were gone. Turns out I was right.

One thing about this community (Oceanside). I don't think it's in the comics at all, unless I've missed something somewhere. Is this something Kirkman et al. have come up with out of the blue?

Overall, this felt pretty much like a "filler" episode to me - I imagine the next episode will be going back to Alexandria.

While I may be damning the episode with the very faintest of praise here, I felt that this was the best episode of the season so far. It probably helped that Tara is my favorite Walking Dead character, but on top of that there was some humor, no one was needlessly cruel, everyone's motivations made sense, there were some fun action pieces, there was some good worldbuilding (one of the things that this season gets right is that it has shown a couple of communities that don't fit the molds that we've seen so far), and Rick, Carl, and Negan were not spotted once.

Also, Tara flipped off a little girl.

I would be perfectly happy if every episode followed this formula.

I liked this one a lot too. Loved seeing a new community and I thought the set design was pretty extraordinary. That was an interesting community.
And small note, but whoa Tara looked beautiful in the shots on the beach. I somehow hadn't realized how gorgeous that actress is before.
Any thoughts on what happened to Heath?

I liked this episode very much, at least as far as current Walking Dead episodes go. I guess we'll probably never see that community again, which is depressing since those characters felt more human than any of the awful, boring, stupid characters in Neganland. I'd like to think they could play a part in the future battle against the Saviors, but I also kind of want them to just stay hidden and safe in their lovely Crone Island.

100% agreed. I have nothing bad to say about this one.

Well, except for the stupid fakeout with the NotHeath Walker. That was dumb. But I'll forgive it since I liked the episode otherwise.

If Negan could hurry up and finish off the rest of the original cast and we could just continue on with the show as The Walking Tara that'd be fine with me

it's fortunate that somewhere along the line the walkers decided it is much more fun to grapple with their prey to find the perfect spot to bite rather than just sink their teeth into the nearest piece of flesh.

I don't really understand what had happened on the bridge. Why were there two trucks, a giant pile of sand filled with dessicated zombies and a bunch of bullet casings? Had there been an accident? A battle? Usually with these Walking Dead tableaux you can piece together a backstory but this one's a headscratcher.

I liked the episode but it was frustrating to see Tara have a great stick weapon handy and barely even use it. She had a perfect spot on top of the car to just take them out one by one.

In case anyone is wondering about the Tara montage, it's Everything's Fucked by Dirty Three.

Sometimes, a setup for a dumb action setpiece is just a setup for a dumb action setpiece.
