Three bakers. A scorchingly hot tent. Three last challenges to see who of Kim-Joy, Rahul or Ruby will be 2018 Bake-Off winner.
First, doughnuts - actually, British-style filled doughnuts and US-style ring donuts. Not that Rahul has had either before - will his imagination get the better of him? Then a technical challenge that surprises the bakers as much as it does us. Finally, a show-stopper bake where our final three get to show us their best. The Great British Bake Off: Pâtisserie Season 9, Episode 9
Semi-final week: only three out of Briony, Kim-Joy, Rahul and Ruby can go through to the final. Firstly, our bakers must go in search of lost time the approval of Prue and Paul with madeleines, then they must attempt one of the most complicated technical challenges ever, the Torta Setteveli, before producing 12 each of three different types of pastries: choux pastry, pate sucree and puff pastry Mille-feuille. The Great British Bake Off: Danish Week Season 9, Episode 8
Velkommen! In the Tent's first Danish Week (a theme apparently suggested by host Sandi Toksvig) the five semi-finalist bakers kick things off by making rye bread in the Signature, which is then used to produce two Smørrebrød. For the Technical, bakers were asked to produce fourteen Æbleskiver. Lastly, in the Showstopper, the challenge was to create the traditional Danish birthday treat, Kagemand.
The Great British Bake Off: Vegan Season 9, Episode 7
A first for GBBO: Vegan week! No butter, no eggs, no milk, not even any honey. The six remaining bakers have to start with savoury vegan tartlets, then make a pavlova using aquafaba rather than egg whites for the meringue, and finally produce an impressive celebratory cake using only vegan ingredients. The Great British Bake Off: Pastry Season 9, Episode 6
After last week's double elimination, the tent is down to seven bakers. This week their challenges start triangular (samosas), go round for the technical (puits d’amour) and then go spectacular for the show-stopper (a shaped pie fit for a banquet centrepiece). [more inside]

This week's signature had the bakers spicing up a classic ginger cake, while the technical was a Middle Eastern pastry, Ma'amoul. Finally, we said goodbye to two bakers this week after a showstoppper challenge that involved a hanging biscuit chandelier.
