Supergirl: In Search of Lost Time

J'onn must help his father through his illness. Mon-El teaches Kara fighting techniques he learned in the future. Lena forces Sam to face the truth about herself.

AV Club review

I thought this episode had some very strong moments, even if, like AV Club said, it took too long to get there. For me the emotional payoffs were worth it. (It probably helps that I multitask when I watch TV so it never feels like I'm forced to sit there and absorb the trivial stuff, as opposed to professional critics.) I particularly liked that even if the plot points are obvious, the actors had enough nuance to really convince you to stick around to witness them. It was both very sad and amazing to see M'rynn finally admit to needing J'onn's help. And the same with Sam not wanting Lena to tell her where Ruby is when she finally accepts her secret.

I'm not convinced that Kara really worked it out with Mon-El and it still seems like they're setting them up for a rekindling of their relationship.

I really really want to know what Wynn did to upset Pam from HR!

So, still not enjoying Martian Alzheimer's so much.

I'm with you on the dislike of the Martin Alzheimer plot, jenfullmoon. What makes it worse is it's the same plot every sci-fi show uses whenever a telepath gets sick and/or too old.

I think they're making a mistake by not keeping J'onn's dad around, alive and active. He seems like a good foil for J'onn--outgoing and open and curious about the world, willing to explore and take in new things--the complete opposite of J'onn. Plus it would be good for the Danvers sisters to have a grandfather figure in their lives.

I know I'm in the minority around here, but I don't hate Mon-El as much as the rest of the MeFite viewing population, so it is kind of nice to see him back, especially a more mature version. Plus, I'm happy we finally get to see him in his Legion super suit.

And, yeah, numaner, I think it's time we got an episode of DEA agents starring Pam from HR (that must be a terrible job what with aliens and assorted family members dropping in and sharing identities and secrets) and the guy Wynn replaced on top of the techie food chain.

Agreed. I was really loving the fish-out-water stuff with him.

For what it's worth, I only hate him when he's placed in a romantic context with Kara. Sucks all the air outta the room. (And to be fair, this is very much an Arrowverse problem in general.)

Count me as another person who would love a decent lower decks episode of Supergirl, too.
