My Brother, My Brother And Me: MBMBaM 405: Gumpy, Hey!
May 7, 2018 12:11 PM - Subscribe

There is a new and large movie out in theaters right now, which means Our Watch Has Begun Anew. We promise, there's no Avengers spoilers present in this episode, save for the frank, challenging discussion about the sexually explicit nature of Stan Lee's latest cameo. Suggested talking points: Avengers Watch, Mark Harmon Dunked Me to Sleep, Smiley Tevis, Shorts!, Plant Fight, The New Cracker Barrel, Toilet Comfort, A New Alphabet

I am not shocked they aren't releasing the Detroit show.

Boy these last two eps haven't been so hot huh?

I guess coming off the ass melting highs of the red carpet event probably leads to a natural valley. Justin and Griffin seemed totally checked out but Travis had some good bits.

The alphabet goof should have ended at "Gumpy, Heyyyyy!" but I feel like when Justin isn't feeling it he likes to carry the joke further than it can go until they all just run out of steam and stop.

Still it was all worth it for the image of Justin carrying Griffin and Travis around in a pampoose and revealing to them the true nature of the world.

What was the Detroit show like?

I thought last week's was pretty good. This week starts a little slow but the last half had me rolling.

My only takeaway from this was that they do their best.

Also doing a “watch” for a movie they already saw seemed to be like putting sugar in a gas tank.

They (Justin) decided to make the Detroit show Star Wars themed because it was on May 4th. Half the crowd was really into it. Half the crowd was not. I think 2 questions would have sufficed but they made it the entire first half. The goofs were probably good but I haven't watched Star Wars in years so that might be coloring my experience.

I kinda hear in their voices that they all need two weeks off from everything.

This is a pretty interesting sentiment, since Griffin and Justin both just quit Polygon and ostensibly ought to have a lot more free time? I wonder how much of their ennui is "I need a vacation" and how much is "Oh god what have I done"

I have no doubt they will eventually release the Detroit show, probably when it is absolutely the least relevant (but, maybe, sometime near the Solo movie?)

I too thought this episode was pretty lackluster, and the middle goofs (Smiley Tevis, Shorts!, Plant Fight, The New Cracker Barrel) have completely evaporated from my mind.

Well I think they are going from 1.5-2 full time jobs down to 1 so I would still feel worn out from that. Especially since both jobs were public performance jobs & seem very draining.

that Tingler is pure gold. Justin reads it to Sydnee, and Cooper is in the background making those tiny little baby noises, I can't even stand it

I finally heard a lost Travis joke of my own: "You want Very Old Navy."

I liked some of this week's bits.

See, I disagree on that one. I thought it was fine and amusing and could have gone into some weird new places if Griffin had committed to it, but you could tell he was getting antsy about it and sort of checked out mentally. I'd much rather listen to a goof go on far too long than to hear someone stop the goof and say, "No, this isn't funny anymore".

Also, Griffin's audible shudder on the soft toilet seat question was glorious and relatable.
