Annie and Jake decide to stay home on Halloween, and contrary to the recommendation from Annie's nemesis, Julie, they set up a haunted house in their apartment. Dennah returns to the group's usual invite-only party. Gil and Kay go trick-or-treating, which Gil uses it as an excuse to spy on his ex-wife.

Overall impression: decent, with good moments, along with some that fell flat. A.V. Club has a good review that I agree with: there's potential for this to be a decent spiritual continuation of Happy Endings, which was a low-pressure "friends hanging out" show based in a somewhat cartoonish reality.

I thought this episode was cute, though I wish they'd lean less on Annie's anxieties about marriage/motherhood/whatever. Kay and Gil were great together. Wish Dennah had had more to do than be dressed as a "slut."
I just love that this is in the same universe as Happy Endings. Great to see Derrick again--DRAMA!
