Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Tattler
January 25, 2019 8:14 PM - Season 6, Episode 3 - Subscribe

Jake and Gina attend their 20th high school reunion. Back at the Nine-Nine, Charles helps Rosa with her love life. Also: crinkling noises.

LaToya Ferguson raises a point that may be obvious to some and subtle to others: All three subplots of this episode are tropes of 90s sitcoms. I assume that was deliberate, but maybe not?

I disagree with her C+ rating, but not by too much, because the stories definitely had the holes she mentions (also, Amy's funny lustful reaction to learning that Jake was mostly a wholesome student is obviously incongruous with the fact that she's learning this by breaking into both an administrator's office and their computer). But individual moments made me laugh plenty, especially Young Jake (that facial expression!), Boyle's line deliveries, and "Thor 4: More Thor".

Not a great episode. I’d really like to see some, uh, police work.

Not feeling Jake’s hair this season, either.

I assumed the radio contest was heading towards Holt getting way too into it and ruining it for everyone. I'm not mad they didn't do that, but what they did do wasn't super interesting or engaging. I agree with LaToya's overall assessment.

I liked Rosa and Boyle's conversation where she just starts in the middle of her problem:
Charles: The last thing you told me about yourself is that you're bi!
Rosa: Oh. A lot has happened since then.

And at the end, when Charles says Rosa could have just been trying to throw him off by describing Quinoa as "she", and Rosa says "You get me."

I liked this episode, but mostly the Rosa and Boyle plotline. "Bats are the most decisive animal"- "don't they just flail around?" - "those are all micro-decisions!"

I didn't realize Chelsea Peretti is leaving. Damn, Gina.

That whole conversation was amazing, with Boyle somehow playing straight-man to Rosa's bizarre/casual info-drops about her life.

also, after Gina said that the app is spelled with 5 d's, the next time the app name was said, the captions said "Todddddler". *chef's kiss*

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but Gina is my least favorite character on the show, so I won't be too sad to see her leave. She's just kind of a bully and I don't really find it funny.

This was a pretty lightweight episode but it had a ton of funny moments.

"Gina: “I don’t read comic books.” Chelsea Peretti was just on Comedy Bang Bang, making clear she knows nothing about Batman or any comic book thing. In fact, after Gina makes the Spider-Man comparison and Jake points out Peter Parker and the spider “weren’t best friends before the bite,” the way Chelsea plays her reaction suggests Gina might not have known that at all. All she knew was that a spider bit him."

This episode of Comedy Bang Bang is worth listening to (I mean, they all are, but this one in particular if you're a B99 fan). She was funny on it and it was interesting to see her joke about a plethora of dorky realms she legit has no interest in or knowledge about.
