I was just in the middle of typing that I thought that South Korea were doing a pretty good job of defending since going a goal behind, when Mbock Bathy scored France's second.
And then I had to wait to hit "post comment" while the video assistant referees did their thing.
And now I can go back to my point about South Korea doing a pretty good job defending since they went a goal behind.

What a classic example of a centerback's goal, Wendie Renard scoring a no nonsense thumping header from a corner.

I guess that's pretty much game, set and match.
What a threat Renard is at corners, she could be in the running for the Golden Boot.

Not unexpected, but still a great start for France.
Some other coverage:
Women's World Cup misses the mark with patronizing "Dare to Shine" slogan
“Dare to Shine” fails to capture what the world’s best soccer players will actually do over the next month at World Cup stadiums in Grenoble, Le Havre, Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Paris, Reims, Rennes and Valenciennes.
They will sweat, fight, foul, kick, run until their lungs empty and spill their guts in pursuit of the World Cup trophy. Along the way, some will vomit and shed blood. Others will blow out a knee, lose teeth, tear a hamstring, break an ankle and suffer a concussion...
...The women contesting the 2019 World Cup are unrelenting and unapologetic in pursuit of greatness — no different than champions in other sports.

Having the game on while cleaning the kitchen is nice, though I wish it wasn’t quite so one-sided. I’m rooting for Scotland because of a family connection and I wish I could say that England’s been lucky, but honestly two-nil is a fair score. Scotland have Ben Nevis to climb in the second half.

Christ, this is a murder scene.
My text messages log from just now:
This is turning into a blood bath (4:11pm)
5-0 with 40 minutes left (4:11pm)
6-0 now (4:11pm)
...7-0 (4:13pm)
Poor Thailand. Hopefully the US will pull back a bit now.

Plenty of teams have gone out of the World Cup on goal difference after all the other teams in a group cane the weakest link by different amounts then mix up results with each other.

Yeah, if Sweden shellacks Thailand as well the goal differential will be critical. (Also, somehow I suspect there'll be as much handwringing in, say, the Guardian comments, if Sweden shellacks Thailand).

If the US wins the group, they play the second-placed team from group B (likely Germany or Spain); if they come in second, then... they would also play a second-placed team, this time from group E (likely Canada or Netherlands). Goal differential is only likely to enter the picture if the US places third in the group, which would require them to either lose to both Sweden and Chile (the latter are actually ranked below Thailand) or draw with Chile and get beaten by 3 or more goals by Sweden.
As a handwringer, I'm not as upset about the scoring; at some level, it would be rude for them to not try hard. I wouldn't begrudge a fist pump or a run with spread arms. I just think that over-the-top celebrations are kind of shitty, particularly when the score was double digits and the celebrant was a veteran like Rapinoe or Lloyd who had over 400 caps and 11 World Cup goals between them before the game. I remember watching the Canadian women's hockey team plaster Slovakia 18-0 in the Vancouver Olympics, and by the end, they weren't exactly dancing the conga after each goal.
