Really enjoyed this episode. While the idea of a Thanksgiving gone horribly wrong is a common trope, it led to some hilarious gags. And I'm starting to like Gil, with his story of exploring the cheese underworld.

It's starting to crawl out from the huge shadow of Happy Endings. Hopefully it gets a chance to mature further.

I liked the uncertainty of the mother-in-law's motivations. Annie is sure she's in competition, and Gil eventually agrees, but MIL herself reminisces about what a disaster it was the first time she hosted and she really seems to offer the food only when it will be welcomed (and with zero gloating, which seems difficult). She also talks about her struggle with her MIL (but then I wonder if she's playing out those same dynamics). I think she was being helpful rather than undermining, but I'm never quite sure.
