This movie was emotional for me. I tried to run my first marathon several years ago and quit at mile marker 20. Running has never quite been the same for me. Maybe I am ready to try again.

I thought this was also a really realistic portrait of the potential for obsessive behavior that comes with training and changing diet.

I really enjoyed the hell out of that movie. It's both realistic (ish) and inspirational.

I really didn't like it; I really didn't like her and the way she treated her boyfriend and didn't feel like her end "redemption" was at all justified.

I loved how messy this was emotionally. It really rang true. Loved what it had to say about social media vs real selves, with an exceedingly light touch. We’re not used to seeing female leads behave like Brittany does. Pushing good people away harshly, having avoidant attachment issues etc. I’m thinking of Matt Damon’s character in Good Will Hunting, the way he acted out towards his girlfriend and therapist, saying horrible things when they got too close. A lot of movies romanticize that behavior in men, and rarely show it in young women. I dunno, I kind of like that a young woman gets to show her ass but redeem herself, and her loved ones still accept and nurture her.

I felt this movie super hated fat women, knew it wasn't supposed to and pretended not to, but deep down it thinks they deserve hate.
