When the puppet cast of a '90s children's TV show begin to get murdered one by one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet takes on the case.

Ft. Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Joel McHale.

I thought that this was a well done on-set physical effects puppeteering/ live action hybrid movie. Not as over-the-top as, say, 'Meet the Feebles' but still tries to invoke the puppets-children's programming-taboo thing.

Story was interesting, and I'm a fan of noir and noir-ish. Clever dialogue.

All the (physical) puppets have incredible character.

My favourite gag was Phil (a puppet) getting sucked into a jet engine and Edwards (McCarthy) just pulls him free - it's a physics thing; Phil might weight at most a few pounds.

I will never tire of the rotten cotton joke. McCarthy's exasperated "I'm a woman!" plus the pause and the puppet finally, gamely drawls "that's okaaaay."
