Mary crawling through the broken mirror frame was very The Ring. I'm not really buying that Mary's seeing her own reflection would have destroyed her, as she has surely seen it before given that she's constantly appearing in mirrors behind her victims, but okay.

Sam uses an actual set of lockpicks, with a tension wrench no less, to break into the mirror antique store but he's holding it wrong.

Yeah, very 'The Ring' down to the herky jerky motion.

They never fully explored the meaning behind Dean's eyes bleeding as well, implying he has a dark secret. Fandom ran hard on that in fic. One of the dropped early plot ideas that Kripke was notorious for.

Even worse was that gorgeous scene of Jessica lit up and watching them drive past. She would have been a fantastic revenant or ghost, and I wish they'd picked up that thread.

This episode freaked me out because I have deeeeeep Candyman fear.

Oh man, I forgot about that! Dean being RIGHT outside Sam's door when the fire started, and then bleeding from the eyes from some guilty secret two episodes later; among the first of many, many times this show would baselessly get me interested in something that would never come together <3 <3 <3

porpoise, I remember you often critiqued the lock-picking realism in the X-Files threads, and while I know you have quite a lot of technical knowledge in that head of yours, I'm beginning, quite belatedly, to side-eye your expertise in this particular field.
