Stepfather 3 (1992)

After escaping from an insane asylum and having his face surgically altered the psychotic serial stepdad from the first two films woos another woman, this time with a wheelchair bound son. Predictably things do not go to plan.

Robert Wightman takes over the title roll from Terry O'Quinn and Priscilla Barnes (Three's Company) plays the woman he intends to wed and inevitably murder.

The only reason I'm posting is there is a throwaway scene where the son in the wheelchair is packed into convertible with the top down. His wheelchair is also in the backseat not looking secured. The stepmother says to Priscilla "Don't worry. We'll take good care of him." And then proceeds to get into the front passenger seat with another unsecured child (I'd say probably about 7 years old) on her lap before they drive off. People say the 80s were wild, but I can't believe that was ok in '92.

Robert Wightman was effective in this, IIRC. A bland handsomeness, but still creepy looking and acting. Him and the kid being a true crime nerd are about all I remember. I really miss the days when franchises were still geared towards squeezing every last dollar out of a title.

THe kid taking a polaroid of the murderer's pre surgical face when it was on tv to compare it with his step dad is hilarious. This came out in '92 when vcrs were very common. Taping a crime show off the tv should have been no problem for a kid who managed to have a computer that did more than word process.
