I really enjoyed this movie - very slow and moody, with an excellent sibling dynamic. I kinda took the Hicksploitation idea implicit in the premise and turned it inside out into "okay what does it mean to be that isolated and that dependent on your family?"

Make of it what you will, but I think the only thing in this movie I DON'T love is the scene where the father kills the lead girl's boyfriend. It just seems very...well...horror movie to me. Like, stock horror, the sort of thing maybe they threw in because the film seemed too artsy. I much prefer things like the flood revealing all the ancient bones.

Yeah, I hate to say this, but I couldnt finish it. I tried like 3 times and I dont knkw ehat it was. For some reason I couldnt tell the difference between the dad and the doctor and it made me confused, and the slow build up. Just not my type of film, I guess.

Also it is definitely my failing that everyone with a beard looks the same to me.

I thought it was really fun, and it's always nice to watch movies that take their time.

It didn't detract too much from the movie, but I couldn't really tell what was going on with the timeline toward the end. Rose's hair changed, and we saw some fireworks (4th of July?), so maybe we skipped a couple months. On the other hand, wasn't Doc Barrow out digging for bones with Deputy Anders shortly after Lamb's Day, and I can't imagine he'd send an "I'm coming to the Parker's LOL :)" text if Anders had been missing for a month. I'm assuming there were two versions of the script (or one much longer version that was cut down) and some of the connecting scenes were not included/ never filmed.
