A four part documentary on Netflix about professional mermaids working at Weeki Wachee Springs and elsewhere. Mermaids of all colors, shapes, sizes and locations (Arkansas!?)! Also involves auditions, tail making, a cruise ship, a pageant competition, and a mermaid reunion.

I found this very heartwarming to see people pursuing their careers. Nobody's mean and it seems like everyone's very sweet to each other* and reasonable when auditioning and things like that. I also liked how Eric the MerTailor offered his own facility when the reunion was canceled**. And I was deeply amused when Richard Branson landed in Blix's lap.
* thought I'm still trying to figure out why Che Monique auditioned for the pageant and was asked to be a judge instead?
** and why the Weeki Wachee reunion was shut down so hard with a "no asking questions!" email.

I had no idea professional mermaiding was such a thing. I was expecting a Tiger King style garbage fire, but this isn't that at all. It's about people who are performers, and they take it seriously, and that's what makes it worth watching.
