Hijack: 3 Degrees

Spotting an opportunity, Sam executes a plan to get a covert message to authorities on the ground.
Ah shit. I liked that guy.
Very neat, communicating via the video game. First getting the woman out of that seat. Before that convincing the hijacker that the captain didn’t need to be in the cockpit until he suddenly had to be. Anyway, I thought there was some innocuous phrase pilots could use to signal they had an armed hijacker in the cockpit.

Poor Abdullah, he was so close to figuring it out and raising the alarm!

Me: “I’m glad they have an Arab secondary protagonist.”
Abdullah: “I’m looking for Neela. … Who are you?”
Me: “Well fuck.”

I did like how Eve Myles got them to, y'know, fucking realize how dumb the two alerts and their cancellations were, though.

I'm also sad about Abdullah. I thought he was a wonderful addition.
So is Eve Myles an air traffic controller at Heathrow? I wasn't super clear on that. I did very much like her being extremely clever!
As to the pilot, I was like "I know him from somewhere..."
He's been in a lot of things, but the place I know him from is Rob in Imagine Me & You. I was looking forward to seeing him in a role where he wasn't a jerk and/or trying to sleep with every woman, but alas!

Oh, that bugged me, unless if it was something that Idris Elba's character had planned. "no, I must open the cockpit door to save my workplace flirt!" "oh, well, I'll let the Iraqi air force blow the whole plane out of the sky."
And yeah, Coupling for me, so not too far from the mark there.
And I got the impression Eve Myles was working at some level of international air terrorism control center or other, the people who put together all the facts that the individual national ATCs wouldn't necessarily be aware of.

For some reason Apple TV+ via Xfinity refuses to remember I've logged in, and has me trapped in a "Validation Error" loop. I've reset the app, cleared local settings, and am still stuck.
We were able to see Ep 1 and now I want to see more!

I thought there was some innocuous phrase pilots could use to signal they had an armed hijacker in the cockpit.
From my days as a bus driver, "we have an incident" is effectively supposed to be that phrase, and pilots are also not supposed to have anyone else in the cockpit. But these hijackers are professional enough--they know the pilot's having an affair!--that they would probably have been aware of any codeword intended to be used over an open channel if it existed.
(Newer buses, which at this point means anything built in the last 30 years or so, also have a button we can hit that changes the signage to "call 911" but honestly that gets hit by accident with some frequency and I've never heard of a case where it was done intentionally.)
