Tim Baltz and Tony Cavalero are doing really great work at making me care just as much about BJ and Keefe despite the roles being essentially the same weirdo manchild.

I tried, but I just couldn't seem to articulate how buying bunches of sex toys was in the best interest of the church.

The pun restaurant names in the church food court was pretty great (e.g. Wok on Water).

I love BJ and Keefe as reflections of their respective Gemstones.

Keefe is such a sponge: he's so devoid of identity that he will be and do anything to earn the approval of anyone willing to approve of him. He's paired with the kid who's endlessly idealistic in the dumbest possible ways, whose belief in Keefe is almost tautological. (And, despite that and despite its conservative nature, that belief does occasionally turn out to hold a kind of saving grace simply by existing.)

BJ, meanwhile, is ideologically soft—soft as a matter of principle, and convinced that it makes him righteous. He's paired with Judy, who genuinely does need a good man to save her (well, that or therapy), and who loves him in the single foulest and most rotten way a person can love a person.

I'm so curious what a BJ/Keefe scene would be like. And now I've gotten myself all hopeful!
