AEW Collision: August 26, 2023: Fyter Fest 2023

Go-Home Show Week concludes, as AEW is one sleep away from "The Biggest Event of Wrestling History". We've already seen half of London's competitors on this week's Dynamite, so here comes Collision to introduce you to the other half (and a few people who, alas, won't be there.)

The announced card for Collision:

--Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, & Penta El Zero Miedo vs. The Butcher, The Blade, & Kip Sabian
Our faces are AEW's most serious guy, least serious guy, and most drama-kid guy. Since our three heroes are going to be facing Blackpool Combat Club, Santana and Ortiz tomorrow, expect interference.
--Keith Lee vs. ???
--Big Bill vs. ???
Pretty please let the above be these two guys facing each other in a hoss fight.
--The Dark Order's John Silver & Alex Reynolds vs. Darius Martin & Action Andretti
The Drak Order's on a quest to be taken seriously again. Meanwhile Andretti & Darius are "not quite Top Flight but it'll do in a pinch" and have barely ever won, but always put on a good showing. Plus they're both lanky boys, so if Johnny Hungie manages to airplane-spin either of them it'll look hilarious
--Willow Nightingale vs. Robyn Renegade
If, and I only mean if, Tony Khan wanted to surprise us all with another women's match at All In, this would be the perfect opportunity for Mercedes Moné to show up and make the challenge to Willow. London deserves Willow Nightingale!
--Jack Perry retires the FTW Championship

Spoilers
A strong rumour is already saying that Hook will face Perry for the title at Wembley (one more non-women's match added to the card?) so expect this "retirement" to be interrupted.
--8-Man Tag Match: CM Punk, Darby Allin, Sting & ??? vs. Jay White, Swerve Strickland, Luchasaurus & Brian Cage with Samoa Joe on commentary
The match most likely to close the show with a giant brawl, is also a great chance to take the fans' temperatures regarding Mr. Punk heading into All Out, not this weekend but next weekend.
Let the greatest 9-day period in modern wrestling commence!

The Acclaimed out here cutting a full-length video promo on the House Of Black was very enjoyable, especially some choice lines on Brody King and Malakai Black. Would it have killed them to give Billy Gunn a verse?

Speaking of excellent verses, having Caprice hosting Collision means we get to hear him rap a freestyle(?) verse over Willow Nightingale's entrance music, always a pleasure.

Surprisingly, the opening 6-man tag had very few shenanigans, ending with a clean win for the faces. Hilarious to see Butcher attempt to match Eddie in a lariat contest -- you fool, do you not know he's fresh from competing in NJPW? He eats lariats for lunch!

The post-match promo from BCC, and Eddie's fiery frightening response... Claudio should be concerned, because Eddie's coming straight for him at Stadium Stampede no matter what else happens.

Samoa Joe is just so good at what he does. First he's a consummate professional on commentary, putting over the heels and seeming to genuinely enjoy their work, but as soon as Piunk wins by stealing Joe's Coquina Clutch, you see him seething with rage but remembering to ask if "the match is officially over, gentlemen" begore ripping off his headset and going down to raise hell.

I will never understand how the producers of Twisted Metal worked with Joe to make the whole series and still decided to let Will Arnett overdub him. Sweet Tooth is less scary than Samoa Joe.
