All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite: December 13, 2023: Winter Is Coming
December 13, 2023 4:21 PM - Season 5, Episode 11 - Subscribe

Tonight is synergy-a-plenty, as Dynamite airs from Dallas and celebrates the Von Erichs, which also handily promotes The Iron Claw (coming soon to theaters featuring MJF in a teeny tiny role), while also finishing the remaining matches for the Continental Classic. Riho gets her return match, and Samoa Joe is super-pissed off.

Matches announced for Dynamite tonight:

Continental Classic: Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland
Continental Classic: Rush vs. Jay Lethal
Continental Classic: Mark Briscoe vs. Jay White
Continental Classic: Brody King vs. Andrade El Ídolo
The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega) have something to say to "Absolute" Ricky Starks & Big Bill
Samoa Joe is mad about getting attacked in the ring while "The Devil" clocked MJF with a beer bottle backstage
Riho vs. Ruby Soho
Hangman Page vs. Roderick Strong

It was announced ahead of time that this episode will get a 5-minute overrun from the network, which probably accounts for the time they'll have to spend bleaching the ring after Moxley and Swerve bleed all over each other.

Kenny & Jericho's promo battle against Ricky Starks and Big Bill had a very loosey-goosey improvised feel to it. Between digging up uncomfortable pasts (The Firm? Enzo Amore??) and finding a way to plug Billie Starkz, not to mention Kenny accidentally referring to the team as the Winnipeg Jets.

Still, Ricky found a way to cut a firey promo -- husky tone on the mic still reminds me of a young Rock. I'm really not sure I want these two to lose the tag titles to these Canadians, because where would it go after that?

Rush vs Jay Lethal seems to be a simple story of Rush having way more technique, with an array of creative ways to kick and manhandle his opponent. A surprising fast win with a chokehold takedown -- if you told me it was over 8 minutes I'd be surprised. After he walks away, Lethal seems to be dissatisfied now with the company of Jeff Jarrett and Sonjay Dutt, so maybe a character reshuffle is coming.

Mark Briscoe, while still being tremendously loved and respected in the industry, is being made to look like quite the goober, with now four straight losses in this tournament. Not only has he still failed to hit the J-Driller on anyone of import since his brother's commemorative match, this time he can't even get a win with the Froggy Bow! Jay White kicks out of the first one, then gets his knees up for the second one to one-hit-kill Mark with the Blade Runner.
