Tom Hollander is blowing me away as Truman. But also Naomi Watts - her hair stylists alone need an Emmy - but she's just so good at inhabiting a certain mid-century type of woman who's only job was supposed to be "marry a rich man" and "look perfect all the time," with all the unexpressed rage that's eating her up inside.

The violence between Truman and John O'Shea is deeply upsetting, and yet I get it, as Truman is so much of an era when many gay men were stuck in a miasma of self-hatred and felt they had to endure abuse at the hands of the macho men they desired.
