This eight-part miniseries on Netflix will draw inevitable comparisons with HBO's Chernobyl, but is very much its own show, just as Fukushima was very much its own nuclear disaster. The Days focuses on the struggle by the power station's crew to prevent the worst in the first few days after the 2011 tsunami, interspersed with the political drama unfolding in parallel at the highest levels. As with Chernobyl, the dawning realisation of just how bad things almost got will keep you watching.

Glad to bring it some more attention! It's been out since mid-2023, but I only noticed it when the algorithm suggested it last week, and I thought I'd give it a try. I was limiting myself to an episode a night at first, but before long I was binging the final four in one night. It's hard to top Chernobyl, but this is still really good.

I'm four episodes in now and episode four didn't just end on a cliffhanger, it ended mid-sentence! Who does that?!
