Breathtaking is a three-part British medical drama television series broadcast on ITV and available for streaming on ITVx.
Based on a memoir of the same name written by Rachel Clarke covering the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK. The series was written by Clarke with Jed Mercurio and Prasanna Puwanarajah. It stars Joanne Froggatt and was directed by Craig Viveiros.
The series interleaves dramatisation of life and work in a UK hospital at the start of 2020 with actual footage of UK government broadcasts and media coverage from the time. Some scenes are distressing.

It was a really hard watch - but felt absolutely genuine in terms of the scenes it depicted. Also absolutely justified in its inter-cutting of scenes of suffering and death with the footage of Boris Johnson and his acolytes. Here is Rachel Clarke talking about her book and the making of the show.
