The chefs are shocked by a “Last Chance Kitchen” surprise that changes the game. Milk Bar’s Christina Tosi joins Kristen for a sweet Quickfire that requires the chefs to create a dairy-forward dessert. For the Elimination Challenge, the chefs must serve a dish that exemplifies chaos cuisine. The judges are joined by “The Bear” actor and chef Matty Matheson and chef Sofia Roe.

Top Chef's ability to surprise is what's kept me coming back for 21 years. And tonight did not disappoint!! Rasika *AND* Michelle as the bottom two? Unreal!

Michelle wins the QF, and then come thisClose to going home. I'm sure it's happened before on Top Chef, but I'm hard pressed to remember when. It was pretty clear from the get-go that Michelle just wasn't feeling this one. But I was stunned to see her make such a basic execution error and serve undercooked meat. That's often a quick trip home, and she's lucky Rasika whiffed so badly.

And whiff she did -- in exactly the same way she and everyone else has been blowing it: she didn't cook HER food! A chef who advocates for and beautiful cooks Tamil food serving something everyone called 'bland' is just mind-blowing. I had her as the leading contender right up until tonight's elimination. Given her ability to execute so well, I wouldn't be surprised to see her dominate the next round of LCK, but we'll see!

I'm completely shocked, I thought Rasika was going to cruise to the finale. It's a long LCK road ahead but she seems like the type who can do well there.

Fingers crossed for Rasika. One bad brinjal…

I love Matty (and The Bear) but this challenge was poorly framed and presented.

Kristen’s look was awesome though — sleeveless blazer, bandeau, high slacks FTW!

You gotta lean into bland being chaotic! But yes this was shocking, Rasika was one of our favorites, not just to win it all but as a presence onscreen.

Dish With Kish was okay, but there was a lot of filler.

It's the poorly-thought-out themes that will so often take out a real contender. "Chaos cuisine" might've been okay for a quickfire, but it was a bad main challenge.

Yeah, my bet was for Michelle and Rasika to go to the end. It sucked to see them both in the bottom.
On the other hand, we had the dish with the collard greens(?). That got the biggest reaction from Tom that I think I've ever seen. That's one of the reasons I watch Top Chef, stuff from left field that shocks the judges with how good it is.
