The Gullspång Miracle (2023)

Two pious sisters buy an apartment after having witnessed a divine sign - only to realize that the seller of the apartment looks identical to their other sister, who committed suicide some thirty years before.

This is a documentary not a work of fiction. And yet aren't all documentaries partly a work of fiction? The director chooses what we see and guides us towards a specific narrative.

This is especially true here where we are left wondering what is true? What is reality?

The Hollywood Reporter
The amusement park water ride that figures in the introductory minutes of The Gullspang Miracle doesn’t begin to suggest the wild emotional roller coaster that the film is about to unfurl.

I like how this film defied everyone's expectations, including the director's. At a certain point she says, from behind the camera, something to the effect of, "Wait, wasn't this supposed to be a happy happy feelgood family reunion?" after it has become something else entirely.
