While taking a short-cut, the group comes across some faces from Mugen's past. The lure of gold is stronger than bad blood, and he teams up with some well-armed pirates to rob a Bakufu (shogunate government) ship with 60,000 ryo worth of gold, but the plans change and Mugen is left with the short end of the fuse. There are a couple anachronisms noted in this episode and the next (pre-Colt revolver, possibly a Collier design; and the very bright lights used on the shogunate ship) and a ton of episode-related details and from a fansubber, if you want to really understand all the details seen and heard, including the modified in-show reality of the Ryukyu nation.

The Impression soundtrack disc showcases some great tracks by Force of Nature, but their hardest track is in this episode: Death Wish, a song that comes into my mind with some frequency. It's rather basic, but the grungy guitar, basic beat and extra bits just make my brain fuzzy in a very good way. This episode is the first use of the song, but not the last.
