(So, I will likely start watching S3 tomorrow, but, if anyone who watched S3 already wants to get the S3 E1 post up themselves, please go ahead.)

The finale mystery seemed very Agatha Christie-ish. I think I found it pretty creepy, if convoluted, on the first run; I must admit to spacing out on it a bit in this re-watch. On the Jack/Phryne front, it was kind of anti-climactic to go from the smolder of "Let's Misbehave" to no-kiss under the mistletoe.

I'm not a shipper, I may even be accurately termed an anti-shipper, but there is something in the frustrated longing of Jack Robinson that is my main motivation for continuing to watch this show. Hair jewelry and costumes aside, I really could care less who killed who for what, I just want to see if their relationship ever makes any progress.

And it's maddening.

I let out a literal shriek of agonized frustration when Aunt Prudence interrupted that almost-kiss. Is it possible to die of unresolved sexual tension?

Yep, yep. Half the time I notice I have no idea how the murder mystery all fits together. It's all sets, costumes, and Phryne & Jack for me. That's probably also why I'd missed that Jane went to Europe. I spent this entire season wondering if she just disappeared with no explanation.

This was the first episode where I felt like the investigation was a bit dumb. "The house is all locked up! I guess we're all safe!" and "Let's wander around separately in this mysterious tunnel the murderer is using to access the house!" No.

Agreed, this was a frustrating episode, both for maddening investigation choices and Phryne/Jack fizzling rather than smoldering. I also forgot entirely about poor Jane, glad I'm not alone!
