Fresh Off the Boat: Good Morning Orlando
November 7, 2015 8:49 AM - Season 2, Episode 6 - Subscribe

The hosts of Good Morning Orlando invite Louis to appear on their program, to talk about his business and do a few of his impressions. Jessica encourages him to make the appearance, but she is horrified by the way Louis represents himself as an Asian American on television. Eddie and his friends are pleasantly surprised to learn that they all have girlfriends, but they are at a loss to figure out what that means and how they should proceed (and who exactly is dating who).

Songs from this episode:
* That's the Way Love Goes by Janet Jackson (released April 20, 1993)
* The Choice Is Yours by Black Sheep (released Oct. 29, 1991)
* an as-of-yet unidentified song (or two) in the roller rink

The Good Morning Orlando plot may be the most meta thing the show has done so far, but it worked regardless.

I was 12 when 16 Candles came out. So strange to look back on it as an adult and realize how racist and rapey it was. Re-watching childhood/teenage favorites now sometimes feels like being Chazz Palminteri's character at the end of The Usual Suspects, suddenly seeing all of the shit I was completely oblivious to before. (Not meaning that as a complaint, I'm glad I'm not as clueless now as I was then.)

I really did think that the go-between messenger kid was setting them all up to fail. I was happy to see that wasn't the case.
