The Exorcist: Chapter One: And Let My Cry Come Unto Thee

In the series premiere, two very different men tackle a family's horrifying case of demonic possession.
This was so much better than I thought it would be (although I agree about the window-smashing bird). Nicely shot, good and creepy, good cast. I am interested in seeing the next episode.

I'm not sure this show was needed, but it's miles better than Outcast and we are keen to see the next episode.

I really enjoyed this. My only worry is that it felt like the possession plot came on too fast at the end. This could just be pilot-itis, though. In any event, I'm looking forward to the next episode, too.

A little strange to be posting here, since I don't watch TV, but just learned the true crime tour guide characters are based on my husband and me. AMA!

I haven't watched the original Exorcist movie very often - I remember once when I was a kid and my brother was flipping channels, it stopped on a moment of scary demonic Linda Blair and I made him change the channel. And either I continued to avoid it once it hit cable because that one shot had freaked me out so badly, or it never made it into the same heavy rotation as The Omen or other horror movies of the same period did, because I feel like I must not have watched it from start to finish until the DVD era. So, I don't have much of an opinion on how this ranks as an adaptation.
I thought it was ok as a pilot though. The window-smashing-bird CGI was too CGI to be particularly effective, but I thought the rest of the effects were good. And I'm curious to see where this goes - will it be a whole season dealing with the Rance family, or will the Fathers Marcus & Tomas start Winchester-bro-ing it once they succeed or fail at that exorcism?
