Elementary: Wrong Side of the Road
March 6, 2017 1:50 PM - Season 5, Episode 15 - Subscribe

Holmes' former protege, Kitty Winter (Ophelia Lovibond), returns to New York after a three-year absence to warn him that a killer is eliminating everyone involved with a case they worked on together in London, and they're the next targets.

AV Club drops a B+ grade.

You can find Sherlock (and suspects) at the club. Kitty ordering too much food, and Joan engaging in hand to hand combat.

Two-parter? WTF?!?!!?!?

I guess Blair Brown will turn out to be important to the murder plot, she seems to be too big a name to be just a red-headed-herring. But, whatever - I love Kitty, and this was the first episode in forever that kept my attention the whole way through, so I'm very glad it's a two-parter. (So long as they don't use part two to kill off Kitty or Archie, that is.)

Calling it now - there will be at least a hint that Archie is Sherlock's son. Don't know if it'll turn out to be true. Also don't know how it happened. I'm just saying.

Archie is 100% Chekov's baby, and in some way is Sherlock's son. Or I suppose nephew.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Mycroft. Yes, that could easily be his son.

Wasn't it obviously her hair in the backhoe?

That was my first impression - as soon as we saw her, I said, "That's the short red hair" and my husband said, "I dunno, she's kind of old, could she climb up into a backhoe?" and so maybe she had an accomplice, or we haven't even been introduced to the killer yet, since there's a second part next week. Or it's the redheaded guy we saw at the very end of the episode.

Can I also take a moment to say that Watson easily has the best coats of anyone on tv, male or female. So much coat porn. I wish every episode took place in winter. Also I felt terribly for Kitty when she said it was cold outside - she was wearing an unzipped leather jacket, and Sherlock and Watson had warm wool coats and hats on. Also, Margaret is a badass and needs her own show. She would be an assassin who is also a nanny. Kind of like a murderous Mary Poppins. I would watch it.

I would prefer a spin-off. Kitty is awesome.

Watson is the best-dressed character on television. Period. I don't know if Lucy Liu or someone else makes the final decisions on her wardrobe, but whoever does has divine taste in clothing. I want the whole set...

Archie, Archie, Archie. Nero Wolfe reference? Archie always liked his milk....

I missed Kitty a lot! I had forgotten how much I like her.

I thought this episode was substantially more engaging than the past few, which seemed stale and convoluted.

If it does turn out to be her hair, and the second part does not contain a flashback scene consisting of Blair Brown operating a backhoe, I'm going to be very sore about it.

I did not like Kitty at all when she was first brought on the show, but grew to really like her character. It was great to see her back again.

Watson does indeed have a fantastic wardrobe, but her outerwear game is next level amazing. I generally covet every coat she wears.

Archie - I sincerely hope he is not really Sherlock's son. That would make Sherlock and Kitty's relationship icky in so many ways.

Archie was conceived in the Tardis Brownstone and therefor has Time Deduction Head. He will be raised as a sociopath with one desire: to kill The Doctor Sherlock, but they will end up getting married at some point along the way.
