This week: Yes Yes No returns and takes us to the brink of apocalypse.
I was so hopeful for Breakmaster Cylinder's new internet box. :(

I listened to this over my lunch today and was laughing silently to myself on a park bench throughout. Probably looked really weird.
It's a strange world where people can make a living explaining memes, but these guys are really good at it.

So I knew 2 of those 4 things in the tweet - Tide Pods and the idiot who filmed the "suicide forest."

This is so great. I definitely laughed in the elevator today. What a dense tweet!
I am curious about the process of a YYN episode. What's done beforehand, how long it takes them to record, how much editing is done afterwards? It comes across as one straight take, but I'm curious as to how the sausage is made.

I generally enjoy YYN, but this was mostly YouTube celebrity gossip, which I want about as much as Kardashian or Justin Bieber gossip.

Enjoyed this one and also laughed out loud on public transport! Alex Goldman, if you see this, can you tell Alex Blumberg that a better phrase is died by suicide?

Isnt' the Tide commercial where the baby tries to get into the pods bag when the mom looks away for one second an integral part of the Tide Pods thing? I kept waiting for it to come up.

skewed - I think it was interesting because it explained several memes and also current cultural handwringing.

I'd also argue that who gets support and who gets demonitized on youtube is an ongoing issue that's larger than just some gossip. Youtube has been demonitizing smaller channels and channels with queer or trans content (even if it's just a visibly out queer or trans person featured in the channel). So them putting Logan Paul on the front page (and letting him make money off the ad views) while describing queer teen advice as not family friendly (and demonitizing them) says something pretty significant about Youtube as a platform and the future of the web.

This was fun.
But also, I'm too unhip to even know what a Tide Pod is, much less that people are eating them. (The temptation to whip up some rice-paper coated powdered alka-seltzer and astound the few dozen people who follow me on social media is. . . probably worth resisting.) Aside from some of the individual words, there was not a single thing in this tweet that I understood.
As usual, I love the show. And now I hate the world slightly more.

I love Yes Yes No with all my heart. I love to make my husband listen to it, since he's the Blumberg and I'm the Goldman.
I was 50% Yes at the outset.
Eotvos, I don't think knowledge of Tide Pods requires hipness! But it might require Americanness or having a washing machine in your house.
