The Magicians: A Timeline And Place   Show Only

I was sadly nerd enough to look askance at the "$500 and an Alpha Black Lotus" price tag for Penny and Marina. The card is worth so much more than $500 why bother? I guess you gotta pay for shipping or something.

I laughed out loud when the magic you-are-here button was revealed in Modesto. My reaction was basically the same as everyone else in the episode. Modesto... ugh. I guess it could have been worse. Alice could have ended up in Bakersfield.

Marina is such a pyscho. And I love her. A lot. This undoubtedly speaks to some deeprooted psychological issues on my part. But you gotta admit those pants were on point.

Magicians is such a fun show.

Grrr my cable is slow to make these episodes available and oh my yes Marina is my fantasy dysfunctional relationship.

The mummy! So awkward.

The mummy was probably my favorite thing this episode. We are all that resurrected mummy explaining to some magical beings about old gods and then they up and leave and it's just standing there like "now what?"

I want to see Marina's girlfriend. For what it's worth Marina 23 is slightly less objectionable than original/dead Marina.

Also, yay Penny 40! Who's still an ass, but at least he still loves Kady right?

I loved the slight pause when the mummy had finished followed by Julia's awkward, stilted "bye".

Margo's riffing on Cockswallow or whatever that island was called was hilarious. But now I'm really wondering what the hell Penny 40 was talking about.

That chunky llama milk makes me wonder if Fillorians don't have refrigeration... or a magical equivalent thereof.

Nothing better than watching another woman try to out-bitch Margo (spoiler alert: never happening).

The not-quite-Flint storyline made me sad :(

I wonder if future generations in this timeline will ever truly appreciate being able to wait until you've got the right time and headspace to watch a current tv show. In any case, I really appreciated it especially because I think I wouldn't have appreciated this episode as much if I'd have been in a rush to see what happens next since last time.
I'm pretty sure it's my favorite current show with the right blend of depth and light so I don't end up putting it off because I won't be able to pay enough attention or to pay too much attention, that it will be too upsetting in subject matter or clumsiness with subject matter-- it's pulling off quite the feat and I don't know that it's getting proper respect for elegant work in even the least of the episodes.

I really love the world building and I'm glad I haven't read the books because this world is so heavy with possibilities and possible stories outside these main characters.

You've probably seen this noted before, but we're well beyond the books now, and in very much a good way. It's not that the books were bad, it's that this is better.

There are some storylines that would have been fun to see fully imagined, but they could also be rather complicated and/or expensive, and I don't think they'll come into this show, or they'd have use them as reference only, or "backtrack" in terms of character development, and I don't want that.

Hey, Unicorn on the cob - I don’t know if you’ve watched episode 7 yet, but that high-pitched tone sound effect is back a couple of times, I’ve noted them in the new thread.

Yes, flt, that's what I was saying: I like the world of the show untainted by knowledge of the books.
In fact, besides GoT, I think that's been mostly the best way forward and I except GoT because I really like all the work fans have put into fleshing out possible side stories and backstories that are way more interesting and the show losing the plot/ting.
