Well, that was a wild ride. I'm glad it was only a temporary dystopia, I don't think I could handle this show going full grim-dark permanently, or using the mermaids & hybrids for an extended allegory on xenophobic bigotry.

I wish this show was on a less obscure channel than Freeform, or was streaming somewhere already so more than a few of us here were watching it, but, since it's off now until S3 in springtime 2020, I just wanted to post a thread to say that I still love this murdermermard show. Ben/Ryn/Maddie 4EVER!

Yeah, that was totally nuts. I was a little disappointed about them burning maybe seven minutes on Ben having the dystopian dream sequence, but it was good that he didn't rescue the reporter, and them killing Beth offscreen really should've tipped me.

(I facepalmed when it went that way the first time. Like... dude, the guy just kidnapped Ryn and was going to *hit you with his car*, it's okay to let him drown now.)

Other random thoughts:
- I like how this show approached consent and poly and whatnot. It felt very thoughtful for a gonzo mermaid soap opera.
- The half-mermaid cult was super creepy, and just got more so as the season progressed. No way does an authentic mermaid ritual feature so many candles, just for starters.
- Where's Levi? Whenever Levi is not on the screen, the other characters should ask each other 'Where's Levi?' Also, he should be louder, angrier and have access to a time machine.
- I'm still reeling about how much data they handed over to the US Army.

Anyway. Yes, this is probably the craziest thing I watch, and I was about to dig into Preacher as I typed that.
