In the Tall Grass was written and directed by Vincenzo Natali and starring Patrick Wilson, based on Stephen King and Joe Hill's 2012 novella of the same name. It was released on October 4, 2019, by Netflix.

There were a few inspired moments in it -- the long line of brother corpses, as an example -- but for the most part I found the film to just be people in the weeds shouting each other's names.

I got distracted trying to imagine that type of grass growing in that part of Kansas.

I was profoundly disappointed By this. The original novella was scary and nasty, but building the story out to feature length and traditional movie structure, and adding new characters, did it no favors. Not to mention that the most horrifying bit of the novella was immediately walked back in the movie. It’s a shame, because I usually love Vincenzo Natali’s work.
