I see posts here asking if anyone would like to discuss a particular item. Is there a reason to not just toss a FanFare post up about the thing you'd like to talk about, and see what happens? At the worst, nobody replies.

I'll do it if it's an entire series and I'm trying to figure out the posting schedule, or whether to include errata, whether it's a watch or rewatch or books included - that sort of thing. But I can also see the use of telling people to look for the post before it shows up, I guess - just I think fewer people check fanfare talk than regular fanfare.

Yeah, I've been reading MeFi since the dawn of time but I admit I found FanFare Talk maybe... last month?

I don't think there is a real reason, no. I think it's an overabundance of politeness.

Having no one respond to you in FanFare Talk is a great warmup to having no one comment on your actual post.

The 'does anyone want to talk about [X]' Fanfare Talk posts get me so irritated, I've been tempted to post a Metatalk rant against them. Fanfare Talk doesn't have pagination, and isn't listed as one of the subsites in search, so, those posts just push more relevant ones off to limbo sooner. Unless you're trying to coordinate a rewatch or something similar, you should just go ahead and post to Fanfare proper. Even if it gets little to no comments, at least then it will be in the Show Search menu for people to find later. (I realize I may be the Spiders Georg of Fanfare posts; given how many threads I post a week the idea of being nervous about making a new Fanfare thread is kind of alien to me now.)

Does anyone read the comments down here?

We could use old FanFare threads to store acorns for the winter or secret Constitutions or some such.

Between recent activity and recent comments, I see all.

I'll do it to see whether people would prefer a one season inclusive post or episode by episode posts. But other than that, I just post because honestly metatalk is really unsupported.
