As far as I’m concerned, “Betty White: First Lady of Television” could have consisted entirely of Sue Ann Nivens highlights harvested from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and I would have watched till October. But that touches on a major point of this PBS salute—that there’s been a Betty White for almost every extant human, and each generation has its own Betty White. - Wall Street Journal

You can’t really do justice to an 80-year career (much of which has been lost to history) in an hour, but this was a sufficiently good, appropriately loving retrospective, with a good mix of early history and more recent popular stuff. All in all, a B-plus effort on an A-plus subject.
