I'm not the hugest fan of this episode, or Nate-centric episodes in general, but I'm excited to get to the David Jobs. I do appreciate the season 4 callbacks to this episode and the previous one.

I could do without the 'Hardison pretends to be Eliot's boyfriend' scene, that was pretty cringe-y. I like the episode otherwise though, it didn't feel super Nate-centric to me. Or maybe it's that it was Nate-centric without having a lot of dying-son-flashbacks.

The 'rock bottom jerk thief with a heart of gold' mark didn't work that well for me.

The ethnic organized crime gangs, eh. It's (and was) a thing, but there are definitely counterexamples.

*edit: the remark by the Asian gangster about 'the Chileans' - that was mistaking Eliot for Chilean gangster (after Hardison pretends to be a Jamaican one), right?

Personally, I was ok with 'Hardison pretends...'

Eliot is always giving Hardison a hard time for not being brawny; I saw it as a bit of payback - get Eliot's (semi-toxic/ fragile) masculinity where it hurts (especially after Eliot thinks hitting on the receptionist was a good approach). To me it definitely didn't feel like Aldis Hodge was hamming it up, either, nor pushed Eliot's physical boundries - it was just enough to make Eliot feel slightly uncomfortable, but the heart of the move was forcing Eliot to play along (but meanwhile respecting Eliot enough to know that he'll both understand the play and also to play along).

I'm more skeeved by Eliot kissing the receptionist's knuckles - from both a 'm'lady' and a 'don't-hit-on-someone-when-they're-at-work-especially-a-customer-facing-position' perspective.

The Jamaican gangster thing bothers me more, frankly. But overall, whatevs. nbd

I just consider it a nice hint to the eventual OT3.
