Evan's mother felt a bit too on-the-nose at the end; it's the first bit that struck me as ham-handed in this show. Gently's continued lack of trust is clearly going to be a problem. The generally understated tone of the personality reveals feels so much more mature than those on most other TV shows. DuVernay knows what she's doing and I'm here for this smart adult soap opera. I really want this couple to work out, and also want to see more of the folks around them.
