This is a fun show. And I thought the visuals looked better this episode. Maybe because of the outdoor scenes? (Or maybe because I watched it this morning under better lighting conditions than I when I watched the pilot.)

I noticed that the sound effects for small arms weapon fire are a lot less low-frequency/ bass-y and more high frequency (and lower volume/ amplitude!) pew pew, indicative of lower mass but higher speed projectiles (theoretically containing the same kinetic energy as higher mass lower speed projectiles - but this is a very very complicated topic).

Looking at A. African army standard ammunition, it's mostly just standard NATO 5.56. I've encountered lots of different weapons platforms out of S. Africa that aren't afraid to experiment with high velocity and unconventional calibers, so maybe they don't have the toxic North American "low and LOUD" asthetic when it comes to guns - and making guns (and vehicles) sound "manly" ?

Well, it's better than I was expecting, some Farscape vibes - probably a deliberate callout about Isaac being transported across space.

Speaking of which, Isaac is played by Tim Rozon, aka Doc Holliday from Wynonna Earp.

I think the guns are just doing zappy-zappy laser sounds because the aesthetic is like a used retro-future thing.

The karaoke reveal was played so perfectly. This show is getting a lot of fun out of its tiny budget.
